SONG: Games Healthcare Plays

To the tune of “Games People Play” by Joe South

Hmm la-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da da da

Oh the games healthcare plays now
Every night and every day now
Never billing what makes sense now
Never sensing what we need

And they wile away the hours
In their corporate towers
‘Til they’re covered up with dollars
In the back of black limousines whoa

La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Crushing bills for you and me
And the games healthcare plays

Huge bills make so many cry
Even worse when insurance denies
Cross our hearts hope not to die
Or go into bankruptcy whoa

Payers and providers don’t flinch
Consumers get caught in the pinch
It drives us into a deep ditch
And it’s a dirty rotten shame whoa

La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Crushing bills for you and me
And the games healthcare plays

Oh yeah
All right
Oh yeah
Come on

It doesn’t have to be this way
Promote health every place and day
Keep chronic disease at bay
For the health of us all

We all deserve better healthcare
That’s affordable everywhere
With service that is fair and square
Come on and get on board

La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Crushing bills for you and me
And the games healthcare plays

Now wait a minute

Look around tell me what you see
People dying too easily
Grant us wisdom and serenity
To fix this broken industry

Let’s recapture our sanity
And remember our humanity
Shouldn’t value be reality
For the health of us all

La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Full coverage for you and me
Without the games healthcare plays

La-da da da da da da da
La-da da da da da de
Full coverage for you and me
Without the games healthcare plays

I wonder can we get it done
Coverage for you and me
Without the games healthcare plays

John Zam

John is our favorite piano man, a consummate entertainer with a fabulous voice and incredible piano skills. He’s a lifelong Billy Joel enthusiast, and well-versed in the beloved piano bar repertoire from the 70s and 80s, with virtuosity in all genres: classic rock, the Beatles, Broadway, standards from the great crooners, country, and today’s hits. John entertained Chicago audiences for more than 20 years at the famed Redhead Piano Bar, other intimate entertainment spaces, luxury hotels and restaurants, and is based in Florida now. His shows are personal, he loves requests, and can make anyone feel special with a favorite song.

At 4sight Health, music is one of our cultural touchstones, an entrée into serious, even wonky concepts. As our troubadour, John brings to life David Johnson’s alternate lyrics to well-known songs. We don’t take ourselves too seriously! Listen to them all here.

John studied music at Northwestern University, and pivoted his communication degree and PR work to performance. Original artists from Billy Joel to Metallica have complimented him on his live covers of their songs and he’s been covered in the WSJ, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times. After decades of Chicago winters, he headed south to Miami, writes original music and performs in southern Florida, with occasional appearances at his Chicago haunts.
